The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress sits right on the edge of Disney property, close enough that you can practically hear the fireworks from the pool. And while the hotel does offer a complimentary shuttle to Disney Springs, it runs once a day in the early evening and requires a reservation at least two hours in advance. If you want to go at any other time, or if you just didn’t plan that far ahead, you’re either calling a rideshare or finding another way.

Rideshares are the obvious answer, but they come with their own friction. The ride is only five or seven minutes, but accepting a fare, waiting for the driver, watching the cancellations roll in, and battling the traffic around Disney Springs can turn a short trip into a surprisingly long one. We’ve had drivers cancel on us mid-wait more than once, for reasons that remain a mystery. By the time you’ve sorted all of that out, you could already be there.

So we walked. And it cost us nothing.

The Route

It’s simpler than it looks on a map. Head out the resort entrance onto Grand Cypress Blvd and take a right on Winter Garden Vineland Rd. You’ll pass a Qdoba and a Shell station, then turn right onto S Apopka Vineland Rd. Stay on the right side, don’t cross. Follow that up to Hotel Plaza Blvd, where you’ll see the “Welcome to Walt Disney World Resort” sign — a solid selfie spot if you have kids who appreciate that kind of thing.

From there it’s a straight shot down Hotel Plaza Blvd, past a stretch of resort hotels, until you cross E Buena Vista Dr. Two turns total. Google Maps puts it at 1.8 miles.

How Long Does It Take?

We did it in about 45 minutes with two adults and kids ages 11 and 6, at a completely normal pace. Nobody was rushing, nobody was complaining. It felt like the start of a park day, which if you’ve done Orlando before, you already know involves a lot of walking regardless.

What About the Heat?

Yes, it’s Florida. Yes, it’s hot. But here’s the honest reality: you are going to be walking in that heat for days. A two-mile walk to Disney Springs is not meaningfully different from a full afternoon at Magic Kingdom in August. If the heat rules out this walk, it’s probably going to rule out the trip. Bring water, wear sunscreen, and go in the morning if you have the flexibility. There’s a sidewalk the entire way and some shade along Hotel Plaza Blvd.

The “Beware of Alligators and Snakes” signs along the route are real, by the way. Your kids will notice them. We never felt unsafe, but Florida does enjoy reminding you where you are.

Is It Worth It?

A round trip rideshare to Disney Springs and back runs somewhere in the range of $25-40 depending on timing and surge pricing. For a family making that trip more than once during a stay, the savings stack up. That’s not nothing. At Orlando food prices, $40 covers about half a family meal, and every bit counts when you’re already spending more than you planned on everything else.

The walk is pleasant, the route is straightforward, and the only real cost is 45 minutes of your time each way. For us, that’s an easy call.

The Hyatt’s shuttle schedule and booking requirements do change, so it’s worth checking directly with the front desk when you arrive for the latest times. Don’t rely on whatever you read online, including this.
